electric choke

could my electric choke be the reason my truck "hesitates" or "stumbles". I just put a new edelbrock electric choke carb on. but did not connect wires to the electric choke since the old one was not connected either. starts fine, reverse fine stumbles when accelerates. should I take electric choke off or wire it, could this be the reason my truck stumbles???

Why don't you just hook up the choke ? Black wire ground and the other to 12 volt.
It only works if it's needed if you set it up right.

If it's on the carb already non operational then yes it could be giving you the stumble.
For instance if the choke plate is closed, there is no way for it to open if the choke is not hooked up.
I would suggest as mentioned above that you learn about it and hook it up and adjust it correctly. It's a really nice feature on an engine.
In this case YouTube is your friend.

reason I did not hook up is because the old one wasn't and ran fine. I will hook it up and see if that helps

Totally understand.
The problem is now you have changed the system.
Prolly best to hook up and adjust as that's the way it's designed to work.
Good luck.
