Ecoboost power lose

Does anybody have experience with 2013 Ecoboost losing power. Starts missing and shuttering like it's running out of gas. This truck has 100K miles with no trouble. If wasn't built into the fuel pump module, I'd replace the filter. Checked TSB's no matches there.

A lot of people have reported their spark plugs were shot at 35k-40k miles. If yours have never been replaced I'd put some new Motorcraft SP534's in gapped at .030 They are cheap and easy to change. I paid $3.99 each at Orielly's

I second what NASSTY said plus I'd also change the coil boots for starters. If that doesn't work, I'd get a scan to see what other codes there are and work from there.

That's a lot of miles for one year. That's impressive. You must be, just about living in your truck to rack up 100k in one year.
I wish I had an answer for you.
What are the symptoms?

Nasty...Maku was recommending to gap them to 0.028 in his latest video.

It won't matter much on a stock truck. .028 would be better on a tuned truck. Either way .030 is quit a bit smaller gap than my old 2011 came with from the factory.

Spark plugs are new, 6 weeks ago. A Ford tech friend told me the plugs were failing a little prematurely as a result of the lean burn the Ecoboost has.

Took it to the Dealer. Tech said the truck has a learned strategy for plug wear and you should reset the system to allow for new plugs. Does this make sense to anybody? I oversee a fleet of 35 trucks, mostly 3/4 ton and up. Has anyone had any dealings with higher mileage Ecoboosts?

The ECU system in these new trucks control many different aspects of engine behaviour. Another example could be how the BMS controls the charging field in the alternator to manage battery charging to extend life and save fuel.
So that explanation doesn't surprise me that much.

Thanks Conger. It seems to be ok now.
Personal note; I worked as a Ford tech at Dub Shaw Ford in Ft. Worth beginning in1977, stayed with Ford until 1998(13years Service Manager). I own 2000 F-150 XLT,
2005 Crown Vic Sport Pac, 2013 F-150 XLT (5.0L). So I've seen a lot of changes. If I can help anybody with the older equipment don't hesitate to ask.

These new trucks are quite something. I have to say that I have not regretted trading in my old SD for the 2013 F150 last year. If I was doing it over, I'd buy another in a heart beat.

Stretched timing chains will also display the same missing/hesitation and power loss symptoms you describe but it's usually accompanied by a loud rattling noise on cold starts. At your mileage the chain could be stretched.
