93 f250 7.3 IDI Injector oil???

Hi first time here!!! I just finally bought my first diesel. I bought a 93 f250 7.3 IDI. I have changed the oil in the engine. and the coolant and added the vc-8 SCA additive. Someone just told me that the injector oil is separate and I need to change those three quarts also....I have not found this information for this motor. It seems that is for the PSD. Am I missing it? are my injectors run by the main oil?

Thanks for the help. Any other suggestions would be great.

Dave

Your friend is thinking about the High Pressure Oil Pump used in the 7.3 Powerstrokes. Your 7.3 IDI is a completely different beast, the injectors are not oiled (besides whatever is in the fuel). One less thing to fail horribly

Congrats on the new truck. Well the injectors are run mechanically by your injection pump. The high pressure fuel that lifts the injector needle off the seat and causes injection also seeps by the machined needle and nozzle holder surface to lubricate your needle and spring assembly. Then from there it runs back into your return lines. Hope that helps! Another thing is dont be worried if your oil starts looking dark right away. Diesel's produce more soot that ends up in the oil so its normal.

and even power strokes do not need the "injector oil" changed. the oil for the high pressure oil pump comes from the crank case and is constantly recirculated through the engine.

changing the HPOP oil is a BS story thought up by an internet idiot called powerstroke help guy.
stuff he calls "must do" is nothing mere than a waste of time.

Thanks...I have always looked for a diesel. It needs work and some Maint. but I like it!!! Had the Trans done on it already. although that is shifting hard and they said it is because my tach isn't working right now. I have read the tach goes through the computer and the tranny does read that

don't drive it without the tach working (most cases it's it's sensor or wires at the sensor) or else you'll ruin the trans! $$$$.congrats on the new truck!
