thank you for the reply. Yes I have tried eBay and lmc. Would like to keep a factory type muffler do a lot of towing in the summer. All of my exhaust pipes are in new condition , I ran over a tree one night not a big one but put a hole in the muffler. I have thought about after market but 400.00 plus install is way to mush cash..

Why not just check the inlet and outlet sizes. (maybe 2 inch ?) and a total length. Buy an aftermarket muffler at Auto Zone that is "about" right. Cut the old muffler out with a sawzall and slip the new muffler in its place. If you need a few inches extra length, then sell 12 inch long sections at Auto Zone... but a couple good muffler clamps.

that's what I was going to do ,but all the mom and pop shops around here don't weld the only one that dose charges 75.00 to light up and if you bring your own muffler he charges you double..this is a small town !!! the one part house that I like is trying to find a muffler for me that will fit..midas only do from converter back way to muck cash.. around here at autozone , napa , advance if it's not in the computer they don't have are can't get,not like back in the good old days, had same trouble around here getting part for my 70 galaxie still do...

If you or a buddy can do some work yourself, you can cut out the old with a sawzal and just stick in a muffler you buy anywhere. A couple of pinch muffler clamps works fine. don't have to be welded into place.......... If you want a factory type muffler, welded, and cant do the work, then yes, you are stuck with the local shop.

You shouldn't have to spend $400 on a muffler. Also, if you do alot of towing, a performance will help. The factory muffler is very restrictive. I would cut out the muffler, replace it with a pipe clamped on. See what you think and if you don't like put a muffler. It will sound at least for the time being. I know a muffler with a hole sound weird.

Those muffler patches actually work pretty well...might give that a try. I agree with trying the pipe idea. The 4 cats will still keep noise in check. You could even buy some of that flexible stuff and a couple clamps to see what you think. I would be worried about "drone" with no muff.....but maybe it will be OK???
