Hi and welcome to FTE.
Most people are swapping to a later model front axle with disc brakes already there, then working backward with the power steering. I could be wrong and would need to check the books but I don't think disc brakes were on the 44 closed knuckle. If you search the posts, there are a few guys that have mounted a steering box forward of the shock "tower", the main drag link then crosses over to pass side. This is how the later models were (70's 80's etc.) Ive posted a link for examples. Hope it helps, good luck, most of us are in the same boat....

Paul - Off the top of my head I think you need to be 1977?? and later for disc brakes. I found this post on FTE with links and more info. For my 64 resto - rebuild I am leaning toward the later model open knuckle Dana 60 front axle and a matching Dana 60 for the rear of same year donor I find. If memory serves me, this had disc brakes and big *** calipers but its been a long time since Ive seen one. Heres the link: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/9...dana-44-a.html

AXLE code stamped on the 2nd line...far right of the Warranty Plate, located on the left door face below the latch.
If the code is composed of 3 digits, the 3rd digit refers to the front axle, but Ford didn't always have 3rd digits on 4WD AXLE codes.
Ford/Dana front driving axle ID tag located under one or two of the bolts that retain the inspection cover to the housing. But today...many of these tags are missing.
