Fuel tank removal help

An easy job turned into a hard one. Trying to get the fuel tank out of a 47 cab I have for parts. Passenger side seat bracket has some square tab welded in so I can't get the bottom of the seat out. Also, I don't know what this part is, I believe it is what is holding the tank on still. Anyone know what I need to take this out?

Alright false alarm. It can be undone from a 9/16 socket. I never knew of such a thing. Looks as if a cotter pin is supposed to go into the bolt. Thanks for the help... Ha

Looks like a castellated nut to me. Can you get at the bolt head under the truck? It might be a two person job unless you have really long arms.

If I recall correctly, that is a stud welded to the bracket, not a carriage bolt so you should be able to remove it with out the bolt spinning. Just give it a little with PB Blaster or something that to help ease it off.

I have all the nuts removed and the filler pipe for the tank. I am still hung on something. Is there a bolt and nut under the cab? I try lifting the tank out but it feels like something in the center is holding it on. I am stumped cause this is my "parts" cab and I have no room or way to tip it over and look under it.

Did you disconnect the fuel line that went to the engine?

I will post a picture tomorrow of what I am talking about. To dark at the moment. Maybe the cab is lying all of its weight on the line?

Sorry I forgot to post the updates. Got the tank out. Some wrong parts on it made it hard to get off. Plus when I shake it I hear a piece moving in it. Probably a rock or bolt. Needles to say, I don't think I will use it for a spare or backup. I will check the tank on the other truck. If that becomes a problem I may just fabricate a new one in the frame rail.
