Clicking noise inside cab

For the past 3 or 4 days I've been hearing an annoying clicking/squeaking noise inside the cab. It sounds like it's coming from inside the dash around the area of the steering wheel or 4WD switch. I pretty much figured out today that it has something to do with the brake pedal.

1) The noise only occurs when the truck is on. Once I turn the key off it stops.
2) It is completely random. I could go 10 minutes without hearing it or I could go 10 minutes without it stopping.
3) It could be making the noise but as soon as I press the brake pedal the slightest bit it quits instantly. Then once I let off the brakes the noise comes back.

Any ideas on what it could be?

Curious to see outcome. My buddy has the same issue except it sounds like his is coming from around the headlight switch. I'm thinking its in the gauge cluster itself. Maybe a different issue, don't know.

It's the turn signal/brake light relay. If it's buzzing, it stops when either the brake pedal is applied, or turn signals are on. But, the issue isn't the relay itself - it's the turn signal lever, which gets dirt inside. The intermittent short drives the relay crazy. The true fix is a new turn signal post/switch, which if I recall, comes in over $100. For me, I sprayed the living hell out of it with contact cleaner, which "fixed" it for over a year. It only now just started up again. I'll attempt the same, but the real fix is a new turn signal post/lever/switch assembly.

Scott, your buddy's is probably a different issue, unless that relay is in a different spot for his year truck. If it quits when turn signals are on or brake pedal is applied, that's the culprit. On my '02, it's under the dash, below and behind the 4wd switch. You can put your hand on it and feel the buzz when it's acting up.
