Head studs, one by one... Stock head gasket

Hey guys,

I've herd of people doing the studs one by one on a lot of cummins engines to retain the factory head gasket. Is this advisable on a 7.3?

I would say that is the "preferred" method as to retain the "seasoned" gasket seal.

Head studs aren't usually needed until really high boost pressures, so this begs the question, what "more to come" do you have planned? Just curious.

makes sense to me. I don't plan on doing much more to my truck as far as performance but I still retorqued everything when the injector cups were replaced about a month back.

Yes, remove one head bolt at a time. Install it and TQ it to Factory TQ spec... Move to the next, and the next and so on... Once all are installed then TQ using the supplied directions of your studs (ARP or H11 or whatever)...
