1955 F250 Y block 239 V8 OHV

#8 intake push rod fell down. I can't seem to get it out and hope not too much damage is down. I guess it is time to do exploratory surgery.

Any suggestions?

I had three of them come loose about two years ago in my 292 . I removed the intake and valley cover to get to them. Then after putting new ones back in and got it back together i started it and they came off again . That's when i pulled the heads and had them rebuilt. The guides were all gummed up from not being run very often , that's what the mechanic told me. Over all the heads were in real good condition. Hopefully you won't have that bad luck.____JIM

I know some guys will leave them in the valley and just replace it. They say it just lays there but it would make me very nervous. The only solution I know of is to remove the intake and valley cover then remove the old push rod.
