I haven't checked out this post until today. I read page 8 first just to see what the topic was about but then I had to go back to the very beginning to see what it was all about.
I just couldn't see how anyone could do a patch and mud job for $400 little a lone do a top quality job, at least not one I'd do and be proud to sell to someone else. This job looked like it was written by a "reality" TV producer. The type of show where they buy a vehicle, hose clear coat on and sell to some dope with more money than brains for a five figure number. If this truck actually sold for $4000 grand I'm rethinking my previous thought about buying old trucks and flipping them.
I the type of person who foolishly buys beaters and tries to rebuild to new, stock quality. I've never, ever been able to do it for under $3000, not counting my time. Heck, I'll use over $200 in sanding disks alone.

I'm with you, Bob. Always took too much pride in what I was doing to make big (or any) bucks flipping. I had to refresh my memory on this and re-read the whole thread from the beginning. Had a good laugh at the unreasonable expectations from the get-go. It didn't get any better as we went along. OP should feel very fortunate he was (allegedly) able to fleece someone as bad as he did and be able to laugh about it. With friends like that, we sure don't need any enemies around here.

I also wanted add that it's erroneous to label members of this board "haters". Not only was that term thrown out here but also on the Garage Journal post referenced to in one of the OP posts. As far as I know the members of this board are the friendliest, most accepting group on any of the boards I frequent. The members on the AACA Buick board I visit do not accept any discussion not focused on by the numbers restoration. They don't tolerate any variation from stock cars and don't hesitate to post some rather nasty posts to let you know you're not doing something correctly. The HAMB, man, there are a good number of very talented and helpful people there but they seemed outnumbered by asses who want to show off and criticize rather than help. They don't hesitate there to post some of the nastiest posts.
What I have noticed isn't tolerated here is over the top BS and deception. Also posters who ask same questions over and over again and won't accept the answers they get from members, many times from multiple members with the same information.
The original intent of this build seemed to me was to build something the was deceptive. Build it to look good and not care about the quality. This is what I got from the OP statement in post #39:
That might be OK, I guess, if it was a personal build but to do it to patch what could be seen from a casual look and not care if the rest of the truck is going to fall apart. I take great exception to this kind of practice because I've known people who don't known better and have bought vehicles that looked good but within a short period of time turned out to be unsafe pieces of crap. Just from looking at the pictures that were posted and the easily seen rot and the engine problems I'd almost bet the front end and brake system were in need of major rebuilding. I know from experience that could easily run $300-500 for just parts.
I also would like to refer back to the Garage Journal post, specifically he mentioned there was PVC air lines run in his new shop. When a couple of members of that board mentioned the dangers of using PVC pipe for air lines the notion was blown off, he was planning to replace them soon. The original post mentioning the air lines was in November of 2013, the lines are visible in the images posted here. This is the type of stuff that will get member here upset with a poster.
Thank you,

I want to just fix all visible rot before I prime it and sell it primed or with a basic paint.
