69 f100 Ford side hood emblems with lights

I have a 69 Ford F100 shortbed--the side hood emblems someone has taking them out and drill a hole in the back side of them where the liens are-then they drill a hole in the side of the hood, and put a buib in it.SO would it look better to wire it up so it will burn when the head lights on or with the parking lights on.I think they look good with lights in them.what do you think.

Haven't seen it done before but it's been mentioned. Post up some pics in day and at night and some other underhood pics. Interesting in seeing them.

The yellow lenses in the hood side emblems are reflectors, did not use bulbs.

If lit up, the heat from the bulbs may cause the lenses to melt. The lenses were not available separately, were only furnished with the emblems.

1968/72 F100: The right and left emblems are the same.

You could always wire some LED bulbs in there instead of filament type bulbs. You wouldn't have to worry about the reflectors melting then, and they would shine pretty brightly with the right bulbs.

A few years back I wired LED's into my gauges on my 1967 VW Beetle, and I used something like this

https://www.superbrightleds.com/more.../attributes/16

All it would take is a small hole in the back of the reflector and wiring it up to hot and ground. The LED has a built in resistor, so no worries about that. Plus the bulb housing is waterproof.

LEDs aren't bulbs per se.

If the light is to concentrated you can lightly scuff the bulbs to help defuse the light.

Left defused, right normal:

So the lense on it had no back and was translucent already? I was looking over these and the 63 side emblems with 'lenses' but it looks like they have a backing on them....?
