I have been doing a lot of looking on here and think I am going to run a Crown vic front suspension. I see the predominant opinion is to run a 03+ mainly because it has an aluminum kmember. Can I run a 02 and older though without any issues? or what years am I looking at to fit like a 03+? Seems the older ones are getting cheaper and the 03+ are getting more expensive.

Hello & welcome Old Blue. I missed this post the other day.
I haven't seen too many complete 289's around lately. The 302's are pretty easy to find in full size Ford cars. It all depends on how much power you want to create. The sky is the limit.....for me, cost is usually the key factor in deciding how far to go with a project. Well...cost and time!!

Thanks.
I think I am that stage in my life where power isnt a huge factor for me. Just lookin for a little cruiser that is reliable and turns some heads. I say 289 because of the nostalgia factor for me from when I was young. I honestly thought about dropping that LS motor in there but the classic part of me is going to keep it all a Ford.
My plans are to go with a explorer 8.8 with the disc brakes and then find a 03+ crown front suspension. Drop in a 289 or 302 when I get that far.
I sold my ls motor this weekend as well as the trans and some supporting hardware. So once my second mustang is gone the work will begin. Plans are to get it atleast rolling on its own power then go cosmetics. I cant stand to see things sit like this and it needs to be driver.
Fyi I am in san tan valley az. So way way south and east of phx.

Couple of photos of the donor car. 04 crown vic. 4.6 with auto. Both front and rear end suspensions will go in too. Started pulling some minor things to get ready to yank motor and trans. Unhooked a lot of things and loosened some others. Should be a fairly quick yanknif I got everything. I am sure there will be some other minor wire disconnecting that will have to be done on the fly.
