The f'n g, introduction and project truck.

Hello everyone. New here but not new to working on cars. My first was when I was 16 and a 65 ford ranchero with a 289 t10 trans. I have many other since then to include a 68 camaro up to my more recent foxbody mustangs.

I have always wanted a 55 ford pickup but everyone wants a pretty penny for them even in the worst condition. Finally a few weeks ago I was able to pick up a 1956 ford f100 roller. No rust, uncut dash, solid frame and body.

My short term plans are to toss in a 289 or 302 with a c4, 8.8 rear and updated front suspension. I have to sell my roller 90gt before I can start work on it though to make my better half happy.

I will add some pictures soon here. I hope to learn a lot on here and see other projects.

I am in Arizona. It is hot here and we really only have 2 seasons, hot and really hot. But, most cars leave here fairly rust free. Here are some photos of the day I bought it home. The one with the for sale sign is the day the previous owner brought it home.

Disregard the LS motor in the last photo. That was going to go into another project before I bought the truck. The proceeds from the sale of that motor will go into the truck rebuild.

Looks like a nice one, seems to be straight with little or no rust. The dry southwest is a great place to find one. Good luck with it and welcome to the forum. There is a lot of good information here with some very knowledgable people.

Nice truck! Well worth getting one with solid sheet metal. Looks like you got most of the small parts as well, they can add up fast if missing.

Welcome to the board.

Looks like a decent project. This is a great group, very friendly and knowledgeable.

Don't get me wrong, we'll give you a hard time just because we are all smart-aleks. But its meant in a good natured sort of way.

I had thought about tossing in the LS motor with 4l60e trans as they make great power and are very reliable. But, in the end i prefer a 289 in there if I can find a decent runner.

Thanks for the warm welcome. I appreciate any advice and heads up on potential problems I might be looking at. I also have a 08 ford f150 limited quad cab in the garage that is my daily driver.

I was looking at the upper cab near the windshield and roof where there is a seam. The seam looks a little bit large but the other side is the same size. Just wondering if I would expect there to be problems there?

I have been doing a lot of looking on here and think I am going to run a Crown vic front suspension. I see the predominant opinion is to run a 03+ mainly because it has an aluminum kmember. Can I run a 02 and older though without any issues? or what years am I looking at to fit like a 03+? Seems the older ones are getting cheaper and the 03+ are getting more expensive.

They recommend 03+ because they have an higher offset on the wheels. 02- would probably stick out

I suggest reading my post on formulating a building plan in this topic: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...1955-f250.html
