Replacing stator on 1985 300ci i6 distributor

Hi,

I have a 1985 F150 4x4 with a 300ci inline 6. Great truck – I get a lot of work out of her for the age.

I have chased down no spark issues in the past due to TFI modules, decayed wiring, etc, but now I finally have to replace the stator pickup assembly in the distributor. No PIP signal so no spark whatsoever. I used a spare distributor with my same TFI module and the truck fires just as expected – great spark.

I want to replace the stator (hall pickup) in my current distributor but I ask for guidance on how to properly take it apart. Pictures of the dizzy are below.

Any information would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Trout

I have not done one of these but from the picture it looks like you have to drift out the pin holding the gear on the shaft then pull the shaft up out of the distributor for access.

hope the image helps. no offense intended, but for the work required, and simplicity gained...i'd personally opt for a DS2 swap. parts would probably be cheaper in the long run as well. hope you get her running well though either way.

I would stick with the HALL sensor type, as it makes it easy to stuff on EFI. HALL Sensors are very desirable for triggering on aftermarket EFI, and is what I'm using with my 4.9L.

Post pictures of your dissasemby and repair! And good to know you had a spare to keep on rolling

Have you priced out both options.
A Reman Dist or Hall effect sensor.
Might only be $25 more for the Reman Dist.
