Turn signal indicators (in dash) don't work

Ok, I don't know where to start looking to resolve this (minor) problem, but I'm hoping some of you do. On the 1992 F150 Custom I just bought (223k miles) the turn signal indicators in the dash (the green arrows) don't blink when the signals are on. When I turn on a blinker I hear the ticking and looking at the lamps on the outside of the truck, they are in fact blinking. However, neither direction lights up the green turn signal indicator arrows on the instrument panel.

My thoughts are that it's not a fuse as I would think that would cause the whole signal system to not work. And it seems like it would be highly coincidental for both bulbs to be burned out. But what else is there?

Thank you for any help you can provide!

Sounds like blown bulbs but might be bad connection at the cluster harness connector.

You just bought it right? so its possible one had been blown for a while just left that way, at a later date the other blew and now you own it?

When you explain it that way it definitely begins to sound more feasible that the bulbs could be blown. I guess I'll go ahead and pull the instrument panel off and check the connections and bulbs. If that doesn't turn anything up, I'll be back to square one.

Thanks for the suggestion!

Did you try turning on the hazard switch? It should make the bulbs come on also. It could be the multifunction switch in the steering column. They do go bad pretty often.

Yes, I've tried it with the stalk for blinkers as well as the hazards. All lights on the outside of the truck blink when they should, but the indicators in the dash never do. I'm thinking based on previous comments that is probably bulbs out. It is a 22 year old truck, so I guess it's a possibility. I also don't see the brake indicator light come on, so that one is probably burned out too. I'll pull the bezel and instrument cluster soon and check it out. Hopefully that's all it is.
