53-56 F500 curb weight

as the 2 f350's i was watching seem to have sold and i was going to have to extend the wheel base on one anyway, its made me think i might do better going for an F500, what sort of weight is a stock chassis cab v8 truck going to be, i've tried to search but don't seem to find any info.

done the math now, and this is perfect for my project, now just need to work out how to lose 500 Ibs off the curb weight, only need a GVW of 7700 Ibs,

alloy v8 should save a bit, something like a cobra 32v,
modern axles with alloy wheels should save as well,

how much weight saving with a glassfiber flip and maybe cab

Just curious, but why the requirement to loose some much weight.

going by the dimensions of the F500 it works out perfect for my toy hauler, to haul classic british cars around in the UK, but and its a big but in the UK, if we go over 3.5 metric tonnes or 7700 Ibs GVW we have to start getting into all sorts of complicated crap with our equivalent of the american DOT, we need permits, licences, tachos (electronic log books) and the list goes on if we want to use the vehicle for anything but personal use, so i want to stay under the 7700 GVW so my life is easy, i need to be able to carry about 3000Ibs

my perfect truck here would be an F350 with a 154" WB, that would keep the weight down, and still give me a long enough bed

what makes an F350 944 Ibs lighter than an F500, i'm guessing an F600 has an even heavier curb weight

One thing that ads weight to the F500 is the heavier double wall frame. Some of the big truck experts will know more.
Edit: It takes several heavy spring leaves to give the additional GVWR. Also tires are larger and weigh more.

You're out of luck for a while. I'll be away from references for a few weeks. Stu

The F-350 and F-500 are two, totally different classes of trucks. The smaller truck is pickup based, where the 500 is a truck-truck, designed to haul heavy loads, work fields, etc. Everything on a F-500 is larger and heavier, frame, springs, axles, wheels, etc. I'm surprised the difference is only less than 1000 pounds.
