I'm splitting hairs over the difference between the scanner and tuner. Many scanners can turn off the CEL and clear the code. A tuner on the other hand will program the PCM to ignore the sensor input that causes the CEL (or modify it) so you won't be repeatedly clearing the code, it won't pop up in the first place. I also agree the valve should stay connected and if you delete the EGR cooler leave the valve installed in the intake.

On the SGII when it says clear code, does that really clear it? It will just come right back up when I "clear" one.

Just an FYI, if you do go the SCT route, Amazon has them right now for $333.00. Rather than $379.00.
It fluctuates, I got mine 2 months ago from amazon, new, and paid $307.00 so watch for better prices.

Not really, the conditions required to set the code haven't happened again yet. Throttle position, engine load, rpm, coolant temp and commanded EGR position, have to be above specific values while EGR flow as measured by the iat2 and possibly MAF have to be below a specific value and it has to stay that way for a certain amount of time and then "bing" there's the light. And if that isn't complicated enough, many codes require all the values to be outside the allowable limit a certain number of times (usually 3) before turning on the light. While it's counting 1-2- times (before the CEL is turned on) the code can still be pulled with a scanner although it is referred to as a "pending" code.

That makes sence. That is why my truck ran until the truck got to temp and the valve opened and failed the first time.

I can not answer that, hopefully someone else can chime in for us, but everything I have read says that the 3015 is the way to go.

Heading to the shop last night and had a real lack of power with lots of black smoke.. I heard back from the mechanic around 10 and he said the only thing coming up was that glow plug #7. Is it very common to have lack of power and black smoke? I'm giong EGR delete route with blue spring upgrade while im at it.

Want to do the oil cooler soon too, it usualy stays between 15 degrees but when im on a long hard pull towing it can go further..

Your oil cooler, if you stay between 0-15 degrees unloaded at 65mph for 20 min flat ground, is good. I had mine done in April and towing 8k up and down Horseshoe bend hill in the heat I can get an almost 25-30 degree spread. But unloaded it's spread is about 10 degrees.
If you end up needing a different shop, Master Tech Diesel Injection on Cole Rd across from Costco is really good!
