Suspension Question - Probably been asked before lol

OK...So truck has 133k on the suspension...you can tell it needs replacing while riding in it lol

Ordered a lift kit...4 inch all around. Skyjacker.

Do not have the tires yet (going with 35s - 315/75/16)....

Bad idea (other than looking stupid lol) to go ahead and install lift kit with stock tires?

I lower a lot of vehicles...never went the other way lol

I can see it looking silly with 265/75/16 tires on a lifted 4 inch excursion lol So I am prepared to be laughed at LOL!! Just going to be a bit before I can get the tires due to funds.

I just forsee it rolling or something due to the smaller tire and the more body roll with the lift kit...not that I am going crazy with the lift...so getting antsy as the parts just showed up and the suspension really needs replacing lol

Here is the look I am going after:

Thanks!

Oh, you mean something like this.

That's stock sized tires with 3 7/8" up front and 4 1/2" in the back. Ran like that for a year or so till the bigger tires fit the budget.

Tom, did you do that in order to pull the extra weight?

Yup, even with the 1400lb WD spring bars cranked all the way up the stock rear springs were squished. . My goal was to pull the trailer with 1400+ lb tongue weight, run 35"s and sit level while towing. Worked out perfectly and performs very well.

Perfect! thanks guys!

Hearing the creaks and the squeaks in the suspension wasn't fun...and I didn't want to spend the money on stock replacements when I had a full suspension kit sitting here lol

Similar to what I got except for the brands... I ended up needing an adjustable (longer) track bar.

Have fun if you're in the rust belt like me! Was an easy install except I needed to cut out and replace the rear spring shackles and the rust...

I used 16"x16"x4" cement blocks I had and stacked them under the jack.

Try and stay away from cement/cinder blocks, they can crack with the kind of weight a vehicle or a boat can exert without being dispersed like foundation for a building.

I've seen this first hand with boats blocked up on cement blocks. Use wood if you can

Don't forget that while you are saving for the new, taller tires that you will also need to save for the new ring and pinion gears (front and rear, where appropriate...) so you don't accelerate like a slug.

And save for the installation if you can't do it yourself.
