U Joint

Just installed a new U-Joint and it has a zerk fitting on it to pump grease into does that need to be greased immediately or just add grease to it every oil change or something

They come greased, but I'd break it in with the grease I was going to use for the entire chassis, and that means grease it again, now.

Which begs the question: "What grease ARE you using for the chassis?"

Well i have not purchased any grease yet but i plan on purchasing more tmw would it be ok to drive 5-10 miles on the new u joint before i grease them

i hope you put the grease fitting facing the driveshaft.
because if it is facing the trans or rear diff, it will be almost impossible to get the gun on the fitting.

Multi purpose high temp grease should do the trick right.

Any reccomended grease to use on chassis and steering parts ??

Though I don't personally use it, I believe the best commonly-available grease is Mobil 1 synthetic (red) grease.

Most all auto parts houses now have it, and it is VERY good stuff.

Anything labeled NLGI #2 GC-LB will be OK, and if it also says EP, that's better yet!
