Fuel/Power Issue?

Fuel/Power Issue?
Thursday afternoon I got in my truck for lunch and it took longer than usual to start. After I ate when back out and it started fine. Later that night after work it took longer to start again. Drove home 30 miles no problems. Friday morning again took longer to start but finally did but i drove about 20 miles and it just died, No stuttering or anything just shut down. I had a little under 1/4 of a tank. I though it was odd so I had it towed to a station and filled it up with diesel and it started right up, no problem. Drove about 115 on that with no problems. Sunday afternoon after I had been driving a while it seemed like it was driving weird. I went home ate and left and it once again took a while to start. but ran fine when it started. Now when i stop at a red light or whatever and i hit the gas it wont go. I have to floor it and it takes about 5-8 seconds before it even leaves idle. and now also sometimes it starts fine and sometimes i have to give it gas to get it to start. Is this a fuel filter issue maybe? Help Please!!

Just sounds like you have severe lag, not sticking of the turbo. Cleaned the turbo lately? The longer to start at times could be the glow plug relay module not activating the glow plugs. Being in Florida and diesel fuel, you can have a whole bunch of issues. Do you use Sea Foam to kill the criters in your fuel tank. Drop the lower fuel filter in the HFCM and have a look.

Read the rest, I got distracted. I think you have a few things going on and being from Florida, a whole bunch. When you own a truck that is green and not the color it came in, it also finds diesel a good breeding ground.

Just changed the bottom filter in the pump. It was pretty dirty. What's the ses light? Don't think it's the glow plugs because in the morning when it's cold it cranks right up.

If you have algae in your tank, the filter will be black. Since you live in Hot & Humid Florida I would treat the fuel with something like Lucas Bio Medic.
The long or prolonged starts even in warm Florida can be the glow plug module, monitor the outside temps to see a pattern. Just don't throw parts at it.
Sluggish erratic performance could be a fuel problem or turbo lagging. I would start a bio treatment for the fuel tank since we know where you live... A diesel treatment for Cetane and lubrication is not what you need.

Also it may be a good time to get a fuel pressure check done.

Do you have anyway of monitoring live data? Is the motor a late-build 04, or an early? I guess specifically do you know where your ICP sensor is? It's either sitting just behind the glow plug control module on a late build, or it's I believe back on the high-pressure oil pump cover on an early build motor. Once you locate this sensor disconnect it and try to see if the symptoms clear up. Also take not of the plug side of it to see if there is any oil residue in there.
