Well it a Pioneer and I hate it not because of how it looks.
The fit is nice and works. My problem is with the support at
Pioneer. The unit new from the local dealer came with 3+ year
old map data and when I called and asked for an update they
said I would have to buy it even though it was less than 30 days old.
$ 1300 with all the items and tax I needed to install and make the steering
wheel controls work and they said that. Then come to find out the GPS
SUCKS. BTW It's an AVIC-z130 BT Like I said nice looking just poor performance
and the tech support sucks bad.

Next time it will be a Kenwood do to the GPS engine is Garmin.

I did the install myself and found it very easy. The factory plug had things like
VSS signal and the only thing I had to go looking for was a reverse lamp
signal for the backup camera. A good wiring diagram for your year and a
very good set of crimpers made it short work. I even have it bypassed.
Not so I can watch a DVD but so I can make changes to the NAV without
pulling off the road and putting the parking brake on.

If you can go to some place that has the units your want to look at
setup so you can play with them. Car Toys comes to mind. Best Buy
does not have that much on display anymore.

Good luck and post back what you go for and how it works.
I will be replacing this soon.

BTW My truck is a 2006 F350 Crew Cab Amarillo aka : Lariat package+ a bit more.

^^What he said. The GPS is garbage on it. I got a steal on one years ago, and it was in my truck for only a month, what a POS. You won't find much better than Kenwood.

Good info. I'm really not much in love with the clunk in my dash - and really dislike the GPS stuck on the windshield. One question though - does the Kenwood support Sirrius? I'm not crazy about them, but wander the boonies with virtually no FM stations and have about given up CDs and the mP3 -----time waster, IMHO

Yes. Almost all of their models have Sirius/XM capability. It's an adapter you purchase separately of course..

Your truck is a Lariat with no Nav?

Kenwood and sync

I used maestro unit to sit between my NEW kenwood and the truck.
I can program my steering wheel controls, and SYNC still works. Best of all I did not cut a single wire on the ford harness. I can put the factory radio back in less the 1 hour.

On the GPS I STILL use my phone over the indash. The unit I have has free life time maps.

Not 100% sure on this but I don't think your dash opening
is true double din and what ever you use has to be have
some adjustments made to the dash opening. With the price
of that Ebay unit your almost at a nice one if you go with a
pre-owned. As for the sat radio I think you have to look hard
to find one that is not. I could add it to mine if I wanted to.

Talk to you local shops and maybe they can come up with
something that fits your needs from someone that is upgrading
or a new unit that has gone on sale. Some of that Chinese
does not seem to last long and you have one hell of a time
getting any service on it both from the Ebay dealer or the
manufacture in China.

For that price you can get some pretty decent touch screens off crutchfield. Is all your looking for the oem look?

I am curious about this as well, I just purchased and '06 F250 CCLB with the 6.0PSD and it has the 6 CD changer in it and I was wondering about upgrading it to a newer touch screen from an newer model (would like to keep as much factory as possible) don't really need the GPS or Sat radio, but want the BT for my phone and the screen for a backup camera (looking at swapping out for a newer model tailgate with the factory backup camera). How hard would the swap be on this?

The 06 is a double DIN. What I don't know about is the plug.
I guess you could use some adaptor harnesses and be creative
with things. As far as fit it should slide right in. You will also
have to add the stuff for the backup camera. Not too hard there
is a backup wire for the parking assist module in the passenger
kick panel. Really easy to get at. Let me know and I can post
you the wiring diagram PDF. Also let me know how it goes
I am getting tired of this Pioneer POS.

Also I see you said you have a 6.0 so I would like to invite you to come to

Simple, but the factory camera is pricey. Also, I'd look for the emblem/camera setup that's in the newest SD and F150's.

Looks nice from the pictures on eBay, but getting map updates may be tough.. It says it has "the latest Navi Map software".. Ten minutes looking on the web and I found only one reference to "Navimap" when looking for "Navi Map"..

Not having Sirius would be a HUGE PLUS in my opinion...
