I have a 96 f350 460 and when I bought my truck, it was the same way like yours is, but my short hose off the T had a bolt in it. What I seen, that fitting that's in the valve cover is the pcv valve. I took bolt out of hose and reattached to the fitting in valve cover.

You need part number 6B899 to fix that, buying one any place but ford doesn't look good.

I have never seen any part of the evaporative emission system ever connect to the PCV system. If this is the case, I learn something new everyday.

No you do not need a hose, the tee goes directly onto the PCV valve and nope no clamps required.

Be careful with that black plastic tube, small chance it might be brittle. If so you'll wanna replace it but check it out first, the larger lines in my experience don't tend to get brittle near as easy as the little ones do.

At any rate you will want to treat it with care when removing the old tee.

Yes that port it is the PCV valve, the tee in that line goes directly on it no hose between the two. You could but the tee is made to mate directly to the PCV valve, it will "pop" onto it locking in place no clamp required to keep it in place.

Probably the reason it broke, you can see in the pictures that tee is cracked and brittle. Someone probably when to check or replace the PCV valve and when they pulled the tee off part of it broke off rather than expand like it should when it was still pliable.

Put a new on on it a minute you should be all set, if not or have more questions just ask, always plenty of good people here willing and ready to offer help.

Did you get the PCV hose routed / connected correctly? Did this truck idle poorly?

in the diagram part #4 should connect to the rear of the upper intake #17 or #18. The sucking was most likely a vacuum leak. Keep us posted.

Take care.

Glad you got it fixed! Sorry for leading you a little astray. I am more familiar with small block trucks. The EVAP circuit routing is very different as I have learned.
