Does a hose go here?

Hello all, First off i have a 1989 ford f150 v8 5.0 i think. This truck was given to me by my grandfather and after a few minor tune ups it runs like a champ. I dont really drive it much and have had it less than a month. Recently I noticed a high pressure air sound coming from a male connector where a hose looks like it should go sure enough alot air is coming out. Also I saw another male fitting that looks like a hose should be attached to it as well. Its connected to that back of the manifold.Does anyone know if a hose should attach these two fittings? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks....

The 2nd picture is your PCV valve and the top outlet should be capped with a nylon/rubber cap. Be sure to take care of that soon.

Thanks. So I should leave the pcv valve alone? And where can I get a cap for that outlet and what is called so I can ask for the right one?

I'd just buy a new PCV valve, if that one's leaking they come with the plug for the port you don't need. The first picture is of a vacuum tree, it just need a cap put on it, probably 7/32 or 1/4 inch, can be found in the HELP section of most auto parts stores. If you can't find one get a length of hose (they sell it in 12" sections) and make one with a screw in one end.

No you misunderstood my post. The 2nd picture is your PCV valve and the top outlet ON that PCV valve that has no hose needs to get capped. No point in replacing the whole valve (its a hassle gettin back there to get it out) if the valve is still good. Try shaking it with the hoses on there, should make a rattling noise if the valve is good. I'm sure you can get a rubber cap for it at the auto parts store or possibly the hardware store.

I don't know about the first picture though... Sounds like pfogle thinks you can just cap that too.
