cost of 4spd swap?

what would be a fair price to pay at a junk yard for all the parts need to swap a c6 to a 4sp?
im talking pressure plate, clutch, bell housing, trans, maybe trans case, clutch pedels and linkage, cross member, maybe drive shafts (il have to measure them) and maybe steering colom.

A few hundred, if you're talking about a truck transmission and not a car-type.
Try to get a T-19 with close ratios, "close" compared to the 435 or T-18.

Missing from the list above: Flywheel, pilot bushing/bearing, trans tunnel cover, starter, and trans inspection cover.

Depends! But I figure a ballpark number is around $600 to $800. Do it once and do it right so buy a replacement clutch disc, pressure plate, and throw out bearing.

Some yards have standardized prices... many don't and seem to gouge pickers because they have them bent over a barrel and "need" the part. I like places like Pick N Pull (a division of Schnitzer Steel) because I absolutely know what I am going to pay. Well, except for odd parts like a light bar off a tow truck ($40!).

Example... PNP in Cumberland, Rhode Island: Pick-n-Pull » Part Pricing

I did the auto to manual swap for about $300. I paid $150 for every piece i needed from a junkyard that was going out of business. I bought a new clutch kit and had the flywheel resurfaced. I did have to have the rear driveshaft lengthened. You may also consider buying a complete truck for the swap since i have seen alot of complete trucks for cheap in my area

FE's are all the same (this does not include FT's - although on second thought I think they are the same too). I'm not sure about the 351M/400.

To the OP: Do some research on 335 family starter variations.

The shafts were different on my 79 bronco when i did the swap since the 4speed was shorter then the C6, but only a couple inches different. A 77.5-79 f250 engine/trans is the same as a 78-79 bronco and they both use high pinion diffs so its basically identical. I did the swap al long time ago so details are fuzzy but i did have to modify the shafts

I just converted mine, bought a 4wd parts truck for $1000. Swapped the C6 for a 435. I ended up using a lot more off the parts truck than I thought I would, grill, tail lights, mirrors, all kinds of misc clips that were broke. Had to have a drive shaft made. Only bummer is the speedo cable goes to the transfer case and converting to 4wd is way down the road.
