Question 1966 ford f-350 tow truck

So today I was at my local scrapyard and found a 1966 ford tow truck.. Well I asked the owner of the yard about it and he said he'd sell it to me for 2145 dollars instead of crushing it because that's what the value would be.. I'm interested because it has an original 352 engine that looks to be in running condition.. It has no gas tank but the interior and dash are fairly nice, the floor isn't to good as it was a work truck and had it's fair share of use.. There is some rust on the back and it looks like it had been hit but nothing unfixable since the pan led are mostly straight.. Should I buy it to restor it or rat rod it? I'm not sure the value on it and is there even that big of a market? Thanks for answering any questions.

This is the truck

352 small block ford

The dash and seats were nice.. But some rust

It was missing lights and gas tank

That poor truck has had a HARD life. It been beat up and beat down. Look how toed-in that front suspension is. I could see if the engine was out of it. Something BAD is going on there.
Sorry, but I would pass.

The front axel is fine, the rim of the wheel is what has been bent, it looks as it was driven with only one lug on the rim and it's been bowed out. The entire rim is just bent to the side. I looked at the axel and it was still straight. It looks like It could be driven to my house if it had a gas tank and the rest of the lugs in that wheel

It'll be a project for sure. But if it works out for you. You can put it to work and make all your money back.

You sure this is an F350? Appears to have the wide front fenders that were only installed on F500/750's.

The engine has a Holley 2V carb with a governor. No 1965/66 F100/350 w/a 352 (not a small block!) came with it, only FT engines that were installed in F500 and larger trucks.

If it is an F350, will have 6 lug wheels on a 7.25" bolt circle. Only 1953/66 F350's came with these wheels.

Personally, I wouldn't pay $21.45 for it, it's a rough old cob and money pit. This truck was sold new as a Cab & Chassis, the tow truck body was installed after the fact.

Where will you find parts for the tow truck mechanism?

I'm not sure about the lugs. I think it had 5 I'm not positive. I was thinking about the towing body too, I thought about it and figured that it would be easy to take of and get some money back out if it. I'm looking for a project for my dad and I to do, something we could hot rod or restore over a period of time. This might not be it though. We have a 52 and 51 f1 already but they're both really rough.

The F350's of this year had solid front axles. adding or subtracting weight won't change the steering geometry.
