Advance Trac will cut power to a wheel that is slipping, there is no use for the power there if it is slipping anyway, and it will direct it to wheels that do have traction. If you turn it off and you get wheel spin then there is no way to get power to the wheel that isn't spinning. This is where if you didn't have Advance Trac the LSD would come in handy. As mentioned LSD and Advance Trac would be in conflict with each other and you would essentially have to drive with Advance Trac off all the time to ensure you didn't have some sort of catastrophic mix of the mechanical LSD locking up while the electronic Advance Trac is doing other things.

Do you have 4-wheel drive? If so, then that is more than enough to get up and out of any ramp; you'll be wasting a lot of time/money with the LSD.

You have the focus of a laser beam on a very specific scenario and you're not considering any of the others. Just to name a few, AdvanceTrac is there to help maintain control when you hydroplane, when you swerve around an object on the highway and over correct, when you accidentally pull out in front of that person and slam on the gas to go and you start to fishtail on the wet road.

For your specific scenario, I think a LSD would perform better than AdvanceTrac. I also think AdvanceTrac would be more than capable to meet your needs. I wouldn't do the swap and then see if there are issues. I would shelve the LSD and see how well the AdvanceTrac meets your needs. While rare, my scenarios can be life-altering. That's not when I'd want to find out there may be an issue.

Well said. I've towed boats (4500lb and 3500lb) with both and despite some of the ramps being slimy and poorly maintained I haven't had an issue with either.

Okay, you guys win . I will not make the swap. I guess I am more old school and like to do things by hardware and not software. I guess I wanted to learn to swap a differential out too. Thanks for everyone's time and input. Now I have to find something else to do, lol.
