1989 Tioga E350 Motorhome Fuel sending unit

I have a bad sending unit on my '89 e350 Tioga. I have the pump/sending unit out and have been trying to decipher which unit I need to order. The tag on the unit is weathered, but appears to read "F13U 9H003-aa". A search for this has turned up zilch. Another thread I found here lists 2 different #'s E2060s and I forget the other one right now. I do not have an owners manual so I do not know the tank size. On the tank itself is printed "E8US-9002-AB". This truck has the 7.5l gas engine. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Thanks,
Kevin

I would begin with you model year and chassis GVWR as a starting point. The numbers you're finding are either engineering related or not for the pump itself. In fact I don't know any usable part numbers would actually be on such a part.

If you already have it out matching it up visually should be fairly easy. Unfortunately Ford didn't start keeping records of which part went into your chassis accessed via your VIN until later in the 90's.

Sorry I can't be more exact or helpful----best of luck on this.

I think that the Spectra SP2015H would be what you need.

FG173A w/ 36 or 40 Gal. Rear Tank; Cutaway Van; Carb
Hanger and gauge sender without fuel pump.

SP2015H Sender Assembly FG193A + SP1152: w/ 36 or 40 Gal. Rear Tank; Cutaway Van

<table><tbody><tr><td>SP1152</td><td>Tank Electric Fuel Pump only: w/36 or 40 Gal. Tank; Two fuel pumps may be required; one mounted in-tank and one mounted externally.; Strainer required To validate the warranty; Cutaway Van; FI: MFI</td></tr></tbody></table>

I took the 2 numbers I found on another thread here (E2060S and E2071) to my local NAPA. They are an old NAPA and the guys really try and want to help. I also took my old one with me. They called AIRTEX and Airtex told them the only difference between the 2 numbers was the resistance the sending unit had. They checked my old one with an OHM meter and it matched the E2060 so it will be here tomorrow.

Sometimes there's just nothing better than experienced parts guys, those who'll go the extra distance to get it right.

I had a similar situation during this past winter. Ordered alternator for an '84 Pontiac, must have been 20 million of them produced?! Wrong part---but younger Advance Auto guy thinks to pull one from an '83 off the shelf and voila that's it!

So much for what the title says!

I tried the chassis info route first, but because of the generator pulling from the tank, it threw them a curve. That third outlet had the parts guys scratching their heads. I'll post back later when I pick up the new part and get it installed.

Before you install it hook it to the gauge wiring and check to see if the gauge moves in the right direction, most will not and most those that do have the wrong resistance.

Also most 1989 RV homes are setting on 1987 or 1988 E-series cut-away chassis.

As said above the only we found for your RV was the Spectra SP2015H after much research.

*update* Hooked up new sending unit before installing...gauge moved in correct direction...rechecked resistance on old unit and new...same...installed and hooked up...tested...gauge read what I had estimated the amount of gas in the tank.

Chassis was built in 10-88 and rv assembled in 2-89

Result=Airtex e2060s is apparently a correct replacement for my RV.

Sounds like you have a 1989 cut-away. I think that they changed the fuel gauges in 1989 to work opposite from what it did in 1988 for all vans.

Given the year and era wouldn't the Oct 88 technically make it an '89? IIRC "back then" anything from Sept was considered the next year model.

Add in the RV addition and this certainly was an ordeal---glad its sorting out now!

Yes, I think that is what I said, at least the chassis.

But the title could say anything from 1989-1991~ as they do not title the chassis in a class "A" or class "C" RV. They title the home that is setting on it. The title will not say Ford anyplace on it either, just the name of the home builder.

From what I gather the OP has a class "C" RV.
