DEF in a 6.0??

That is kind of part of it, but honestly...i'm kind of a fan of the noise the 6.0's make. Especially when they have something done where you can hear the turbo whistle, not sure what it takes to get that sound, but I do enjoy that for sure.
My main beef is with the smell, and was just curious of if it could be done to a 6.0?

It seems like your main concern is smell, so it's going to be a later truck with all the associated exhaust emissions.
Interesting thread though -- every other one here is about getting rid of the emissions crap! So you are in somewhat unexplored territory for most of us. I know that in CA there are many businesses that are having to either bring their business use diesel equipped machinery into compliance (mucho $s), or like most they are selling them out of state. So there are makers of add-on emissions gear, but don't know if there are any for a 6.0 application -- and I've heard the conversions run in the $10k to $15k+ range.
Just pool your funds and buy a '13 or later Ford 6.7 and make a recording of a straight piped early '03 6.0 and run it through your 28 speaker stereo (I'm sure they are up to that many stock by now).

Found this for your reading pleasure -- make sure you are sitting down and strapped into a chair before clicking the link :
Retrofits | Technology | National Clean Diesel Campaign | US EPA
Oh yeah: it's the SCR you were specifically looking for -- don't know if it can work standalone or not...

I guess if its the exhaust problems, you could run stacks. There is a picture thread for some examples

As someone said above. I don't have any diesel smell other than when I am fueling on my 06 F350 6.0. The exhaust smell is very faint and doesn't really smell any different than gas truck. Kind of has a slight oil smell but that is it. We have a 2013 F550 that doesn't smell at all and is very quite. If fact one of my guys parked it in the station and got out to do something else and forgot to shut it off. I went in about 6 hours later and found it and the smell hadn't build up.

The only time I really pick up on any diesel exhaust smell is at
a cold start. That does not last long with the high idle.
One thing to look into are some of the retrofit outfits for the BIG OTR
trucks. They have all sorts of crap to put on for the older trucks so they
will meet the new rules. The question is will it work and what would the cost be.
Keep the engine running andf hot and you will smell less.

^^^ What he said here!
The only time I have a really strong exhaust smell is cold start ups, long idle periods, leaking fuel system or when I run it out of fuel and have to can feed it to get it running again.
Don't laugh guys I haven't run it out of fuel in a few years. The 1st time I was idling in my driveway the day I bought it. I learned the fuel light comes on when I have 2 gallons left!
