6.0 L EGR & Oil Cooler uprage question.

My 2006 F350 is starting to heat up on me while at lights and parked while ideling. I am going to do a reverse flush with Restore and Restore Plus as per Nylyons guide.

I also plan to switch out the oil cooler and upgrade the EGR. I found this one on eBay and wanted to know some opinions from you guys that have been down this path already.

Asian Copy

Asian copy that you could take a chance on that is initially cheap.

Use an OEM oil cooler, and a Bullet Proof EGR cooler if you need to keep it and can't delete it. Cheap coolers like that are asking for troubles; even non-OEM coolers from major parts supplier Dorman have been shipping with gaskets that fail and push trash through the entire oil system. You're trying to save $200 by risking $1800 in injectors, a $700 HPOP, cleaning out the cooling system, and redoing all the work with better parts anyways.

I think I would get this figured out before diving into the EGR/OIL coolers. Because those are not causing the issue you're having.

Probably want to start by getting the fan clutch tested. It has to be done electronically, so you'll need a diesel shop to do it, or use Autoenginuity, something like that.

Well after some of the responses I have received here and around other parts, I have reevaluated my situation. I figured it was a temp thing to just buy this and deal with the $2000 kits later. But I figured why do the work twice, so I will just do a flush with Restore and Restore plus in hopes that it will allow me the time to get the money together for the full package.

While I am here already and will have the truck tore down is there anything else that you guys recommend I do while am already working on the truck.

Thanks for your help.

ARP studs, standpipes, dummy plugs...all the bullet proofing if you have the funds. Tear it down once...

If the turbo ever has to come out on an 05-07 6.0L, always replace the STC fitting.

Four things.
1 Welcome to FTE
2 Come on over to the 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel - Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forums
3 Is the EGR valve plugged in?
4 When you flush with the chemicals you knock all the junk in
the cooling system loose and it will plug the cooler shortly.
The bets thing to do is flush then replace the cooler.

Like I said come on over to the 6.0 Forum. You will find the
Tech Folder at the top with a lot of info to read.
