Strange noise at low rpm/boost

I have a strange noise at low rpm/boost that sounds like a chain dragging beneath my truck. It has been driving me crazy. It only happens when im accelerating from a stop and goes away once the rpm/boost increases. I have a scanguage and do not have any codes and am hoping its not a turbo problem. Or if it just needs a good cleaning, I can handle that. I just recently changed my front brake pads (they were ready to be replaced) and the noise was there before and after. My 4wd drive works (**** not shifter) like it should and transmission doesn't skip or miss. Any help would help end the nightmare of the most annoying noise in the world, to me at least. Thanks.

Forgot to mention that the turbo spools up fine and I do not have a lack of power.

Would they cause a noise when slowly accelerating and not when wot or braking. Even idle doesn't make the chain noise only ever when slow accel.

Not really. More of over small bumps sort of issue, but it does sound like a chain jangling.

Ill look into that but this has been a head scratcher for me. Like I said I have zero performance issues just that irritating chain noise.

Any work done around the back of the engine? Loose heat shield?

I had a Ford Ranger with a broken heat shield on the muffler that
rattled at certain rpm's/speeds.

You certain it ain't the Duramax you sucked up the tailpipe as you blew by him?

Lifters, Take a 32'' pipe place it on the rocker covers then put your ear up to the pipe move the pipe down the line until you hear the rattle/chain sound, also the Harmonic Balancer will make a sound ( but don't stick the pipe in there)

Have you tried having someone stand on the ground and you drive past and get it
to make that sound? Drive past them so they get to listen to both sides of the truck.
And just maybe they can help pinpoint the location that it's coming from. Also you could
do a video while it making the sound and post that.

I know what he is talking about I been there too. Mine was an 1988 Ranger.
It about drove me nuts. Went into a muffler shop on something else and
got to talking with the tech and he said he know what it was and a fix.
Drove out missing the lower shield on the Kat. But the sound was gone.

You know one thought. Are you the original owner? If not you might try and
disconnect the down pipe from the Kat and peak in and see if there are
any old turbo parts in the Kat.
