How to add a 3 seat to the front

I have the 2000 Ex. Tan leather seats. Two seats in the front. I need to add a third. I used to have a F150, that had a flip up/down center console. It was a seat when flipped up (the console became the seat back).

What are my options with the Ex?

There are various threads on installing "jump seat" in this forum, and people tend to find them on ebay. If you pull the console, without keeping the wiring intact, you will lose the rear speakers.

I presume there's an easy way to patch the back speakers in. From reading it also seems I have to "cut off" my arm rests. Is there a write-up for all this?

I don't see why it would be so complicated, Ford offered plenty of SD's with the 40/20/40 or whatever bench up front. Find one at a scrapyard, tuck the center console wiring under the carpet once you yank it out, and throw in the bench. Maybe some risers to clear the trans hump but I don't see that being an issue...

Out of curiosity, why do you NEED to add another seat to something that can already hold 8 people in good comfort? Not trying to start ****, merely curious.

Either way, this may help: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/s...92&postcount=9

any seat from a Superduty 1999-current will bolt into your Excursion.

find a donor truck and grab his center fold down jump seat. it will bolt right up to your X. 2010+ trucks have a different bracket...so you may want to grab a 99-08 center seat.

quick search came up with this on ebay:
99 07 Ford F250 F350 F450 F550 Front Gray Vynil Bench Seat | eBay

I would honestly check the local pick-a-part or junkyard first.

Thanks.. yep.. I need tan leather.. and I think I'll go with the jump seat so as to keep the features of the existing two captains seats.

Did you figure out what you need to get this done?

If not, I have done it and have been using the seat. Yes you will need to take off the arm rests and cut off the posts on your 40 seats, they will be in the way.

I have also done this same thing in an Expy. I was able to go with a 2011 and newer seat with the shoulder belt and head rest and would say that is a way better seat.

You would need to find a 2011 jump seat from an F series. There are always lots on ebay, or check your local wreckers. The wreckers seem to have a harder time to sell just the 20 seat tho.

The newer seat might also need to have the seat bracket changed a little to fit, as it looks like the base is different. My thought was to have the base from my older 20 seat, but I have not purchased a 2011 seat yet. Well, I had one on the way from ebay that got stopped in shipping and I have not pursued another one yet.
