Serpentine Belt Change
Gang,
2006 6.0L with 104K on it and I need to change the alternator and Serpentine belt. Dealer wants 600 bucks to do the belt which I think is outrageous . Being Im a little tight on cash 600 bucks even if it's reasonable is steep. How the hell do you change this puppy?
Thanks

It definitely can be done without removing much, but it's not very enjoyable. Lol. Just remember the coolant pump pulley(or fan pulley) as the pivot point in the bottom of the routing. The harmonic balancer(or crankshaft pulley) is to the left of the pump pulley in the routing. The only pulley that needs the belt to be pulled behind it and cannot just be put on is the pivoting one on the tensioner. Hard to explain,, I will shoot a video of it,, of course you will have it done by then probably. Wish I could help more. Good luck!!!

Make sure the tensioner is on it's kickstand.
Remove the air deflector.
Remove old belt up thru the top or down thru the bottom.
Take new belt and drape over the alternator pulley, left idler and a/c pulley. Take the belt to the right of tensioner and then behind and loop it over and then down to crank.
Run it around the crank and then feed the belt over the fan to the driver's side. Then route it around the two remaining pulleys.
Double check before taking the tensioner off the kickstand.
