Adjust VVT turbo linkage or fool sensors?

Hi,
I need some input on this.
Anyone who knows a lot about these trucks.

Right now, I've been driving around with the VVT turbo electronic actuator unplugged, so the vanes are always open and not building much boost. This was because, lots of times, the truck would make 15-20 psi of boost on flat level ground. With the turbo open, it runs like 3-5 psi, and EGT's are just fine, showing that there is no reason at all for that much boost unloaded on the highway. Probably programmed that way for emissions i imagine.

Anyways, I am thinking of a way to use the VVT turbo again, but avoid those un necessary high boost pressures.

Now that it's getting warm out, I can work on getting the connecting arm shortened, so that the VVT position is open more than stock.

But, will the ECM just sense the boost is too low, and actuate the rod farther, negating the point of a shorter rod?

What about if I fool with some values for the MAP or EBP sensor? Tell the ECM there is lots more pressure than there is, so it relaxes the vanes and is tricked into running a lower pressure?

Anyone have any ideas?
