Turbo "farts" under moderate acceleration??

Sometimes not all the time, when I'm accelerating the turbo will blow off it's boost. Hence the turbo farting noise. Do I need to tighten up my wastegate? Building around 30lbs of boost. Not a WOT run just above average driving. Thanks

First thing I would do is tighten all the clamps on the boots on the IC tubes.

What about an overboost eliminator? If you are achieving over 22PSI at the Map sensor then the truck defuels? Although I do believe Jody tunes around it, so neverminds, you could always disconnect the red line and see if it still does it?

Already checked for leaks in the boots. I have a boost fooler. Haven't tried unhooking the wastegate yet. But will.

I have been alongside ricers and when mine has "farted", they get a big gulp of diesel smoke. Usually at the 3-4 shift. I haven't minded it.

Why wouldn't it do it on a wide open throttle run though.

Then it is either too much fuel or not enough.

My turbo is modified though.... And special tuning.....

Sounds like your 38r is surging to me. There is a "sweet" spot usually where they'll do it. Not sure on the 38r, but the stock 38 does it around 1800rpm under acceleration. Assuming you don't been during shifts, which is fairly normal especially with the 6637.

Thanks Joe, just wondering if it was normal or if I need to tighten up my wastegate.

You might have to. With stock injectors & a 38r, you won't need to bleed off any drive pressure. It will be okay up to 40psi, which you'll never get to with stock fueling. Did you adjust it at all when you put it in? Most folks with stock sticks tighten it all the way down, so if you haven't, that would be step #1...
