Fuel Smell

'96 F150 (single 18 gallon tank) with a recently replaced Motorcraft carbon canister is emitting a gasoline smell from the driver side of the vehicle. What gives?

Thank you for any input.

Even a small leak will trigger a strong gas smell . It's going to take some more detective work.
