Question 2001 Ranger with 99 motor...

okay so i have a 2001 Ford Ranger with a 99 motor in it. im throwing a #2 cylinder misfire. i have checked everything, from distributor, to the wire, to the plug to see if they were bad. i know it can also be a fuel injector to the valve seat on/in the head (worst case). im wondering if my re-machined heads from a 01 3.0 motor are compatible with the current 99 3.0 motor that's in currently in my ranger????? if anyone know please provide an answer!!

As far as I know, the heads should be compatible. Here's one source: http://rogueperformance.com/vulcanFAQ.html

I looked at car-part.com for comparble heads and shows a '99' will interchange all the way up to 2008

Question #2 cylinder misfire 99 3.0 motor in a 2001 ranger

okay so this is weird! so over the past few days ive noticed when i fill my tank up the check engine light goes off and my truck runs smooth and doesn't miss a beat!!! when it get to below half a tank/ 1/4 of a tank the engine light comes on and it idles rough and runs well like its missing (#2 cylinder).. ive checked the spark plug, the wire, and im stumped!! i know that it could be a a lot of things causing this but why on earth does it quit when i have a full tank?
