Color choice wrestling
Hello all. I've had a '54 for over 10 years; I got the 223 engine rebuilt right after I bought it, and for the last two years I've been having the truck completely rebuilt. Frame off, new rear end, discs up front, keeping the manual steering (yuck) because an IFS wouldn't play nice with the 223 engine mounts. Anyway, a question about an important decision it's time to make:
COLOR! Original was Meadow Green, which was very dark, but I see examples out there where people say they painted the truck this color, and it's a medium green color. I will go with a light beige grill and wheels, which will match the engine block color we're using and I think the dark Meadow Green would look good with the beige. I've seen examples of this green out there that either look beautiful or Army-drab-green-ugly. I guess my question is, does anybody have any opinions or inputs about the Ford dark green color?
I thought this color choice would be the fun part, but it's not. Any input appreciated. Thanks guys.

My truck is Meadow Green. If a truck is army drab green then it is not Meadow Green. Do a Google search for meadow green ford trucks. There are some variances in shades but that might be due to fading or lighting.
The original color of the grille is Sun gate Ivory. Ford promotional papers said this color complemented all of the colors for 54. This is the color of the 53 grille too.
For a historical FYI, the wheel color of F100's in 53 and 54 were body color. In 55 and 56 wheels were painted snowshoe white.
We now need to see pics of your truck, please.
PS: there is a web page I posted recently that shows examples of original paints and their codes on another thread about paint. I can't post the link here because I am on my tablet away from home.....

First I have a 54 and the Toyota power steering box is easy and works great . As far as color , most of the time it is a matter of how it was painted , and finished . I screwed up while painting a car and it came out real flat , never could get a shine . Others can get a real deep finish that looks fine . If you like the color , get a good painter and it will be ok .

Thanks for the responses. Went and looked at the progress today: moving along well now, starting to look like something other than a pile of very expensive parts. Abe, I agree with you on the color - I've seen some online that are beautiful and some that are sad. I think I'll go for the original Meadow Green and hope for the beautiful. Will get some pics uploaded when I get a few minutes to figure it out.
Thanks again, guys.
Thanks again, guys.

Here is a link to 52 Ford colors.
1952 Color Codes - Ford Paint Cross-Reference
And a couple photos. As you can see ours is darker, but has been painted so I don't know if it's correct
