I fired up my 6.7 in my 2011 F350 this morning for the first time in a couple weeks. The truck doesn't see a lot of use in winter. It may go 3-4 weeks without being driven. I was letting it warm up while I shoveled the driveway. I looked under the truck and saw a large puddle of fuel. I didn't have time to clean the snow off and look under the hood. I was just wondering if anyone has run into this problem before
Was puddle under the engine or midway back under drivers seat area where fuel filter is?
If it was in the area highlighted in bold red, I attribute that to an improperly installed primary fuel filter. I had one towed into me not too long ago, that the owner chose to take to Canadian Tire to change a set of filters, only to break off the positive stop tab on the DFCM housing, causing it to leak. The owner chose to tow it away, since I was unwilling to replace the housing under warranty.
Not THAT common, but I have come across ONE personally, and have seen/heard a couple of other fellow techs come across this issue before. This is bearing in mind how many of these trucks are out there.
