Looking for a counterclockwise water pump for a 390 for a marine application.

Interesting - take apart the one you have and look at the impeller, is it possible it has straight fins and can run both ways? If so, take a new one apart and if it has straight fins, it should be OK to use running reverse, yes?

I know 99% for a fact that no marine supply will still have a Ford FE pump in reverse rotation.

Im afraid Art is probably at LEAST 99% correct.........a pair of FE Marine engines would likely have been in something like an old Chris Craft or Stephens, probably an old "Woodie" and likely 35 feet or larger......due to age, and fuel prices most would have been repowered by now, either with a newer generation of gas engine, or more likely with a pair of diesels...........You might search online for specialty marine sources for surplus engine parts, used parts for obsolete engines, etc.......possibly whatever vessel youve got has an enthusiasts website like this one.

The guy before me pulled it and got a rebuild at the local auto parts store. It is the wrong one. I do not think he even knew the difference. Might have to make a new impeller for it.

Did a little poking around on the internet looking at pucs and such... I cant be 100% sure but I may have an idea for you...

The impeller appears to be pressed on. Since water flows from side to side rather than forward to back, it may be worth having the impeller flipped so the fins force the flow the other direction with the reverse spin. If this works, replacements should be easy to source in the future.

I would just keep an eye on the engine temp until its performance is deemed trust worthy...
