Crankshaft suck

I have a 97 f150 v6 and I'm in the middle of replacing the transmission. I tightened the torque converter nuts and was able to turn the crankshaft in the process to get to each one. But after I tightened the bellhouse bolts I couldn't turn it anymore, but I can turn it as long as those bolts are loose. Can someone please tell me where I went wrong? Thanks

Your torque convertor isn't properly engaged into the transmissions oil pump.

I will second what Lime1gt said
You have to pull the transmission out and get the torque convertor engaged
into the pump.

Good luck and keep us posted

You might get it engaged by pulling the trans back a bit
but without knowing the location of the drive slots
this could be difficult.

Is there a way to locate the drive slots?

It's a little hard to see with the seal in place
Should be able to see the pump drive with a flash light

Here is a video on this, couldn't find one for
a v6 but this should help

Most important part of video is @ 2:58

I replaced my 99 v6 this summer and had the exact same thing happen. I couldn't figure out why it wouldn't turn. Ended up re-disengaging the tranny and turning the tc by hand. Seemed fine. Re-engaged the trans and engine and everything was good to go.
