Kind of OT Trailer Pin ?

Well Shopping over at TSC today and I picked this up on clearance

Traveller® Tailgate Light - Tractor Supply Co.

It has a 2 pin connector and I have a 7 Pin plug on my truck. I dont know hardly anythuing about trailer plugs b/c i never use them lol. I cant find any 2 to seven pin adapters. I did find a 4 pin (like this Automotive Wiring Connectors | MSCDirect.com)

Would this work without having anything being plugged into the 2 other holes?

I would say it needs a constant 12v power source going to it if it has a switch on it. If so, then the 4 pin adapter won't work cause it's just for lights. Get a 7 pin plug and just and wire the lights to the charge wire and ground.

Well here's what I did and I saved about 40¢ doing it lol

Cut off the 2 pin plug

Found my + and - on the light.

Speaker wire and solder

Cig lighter plug and done.

I will tell u what though if you need a little light like that for a portable work light type thing, that sucker is bright as a small sun. Lots of visibility!

You can buy the two pin pig tail at most auto parts stores. You would have to tap it in to some existing wiring back there, otherwise as mentioned above, just cut the connector off and wire it to whatever you want.
