Opinion needed on 6.0

My work is selling their 2005 F-250 and everything is perfect except it has a 6.0 Power Stroke in it. Truck is completely stock with no mods. They recently had the heads done and the EGR replaced at the same time but the truck has 132,000 miles of towing campers as our work truck. Price is $5k. I have read that the 6.0 isn't a terrible engine when unmoded but this engines life of towing concerns me. Any thoughts Ford guys?

For $5k why not, it's worth more than that in parts. Don't let the towing worry you, the engine is probably better off for having been worked instead of sitting around getting coked up. I would buy it, do a basic maintenance job like you would on any used truck, throw a set of gauges on it and just run it. No need to dive in until there's an issue just because the internet says you'll have problems.

For that price I wouldn't be scared of it. If they haven't had any major issues with it I would say go for it. If you could post up some pics of it we could get a better feel for it,,,

I will snap a few pics in the morning. It currently has the MIL on so I will be pulling codes also to see what is going on. I have read a lot of the info on here about the 6.0 and the only thing that concerned me really was the towing. It leaks oil but as a long tim Jag/Land Rover guy I am use to that .

For that price I would say go for it too. Like Bryan said, towing is better for it than sitting around idling or lots of short trips.

without a doubt I'd do it.

you can part out the motor and trans for that much money alone. other parts like bed, doors, interior, intercooler...etc are worth a pretty penny if you part out the truck

that being said, drive the truck and enjoy

Well got slammed all day so I didn't get any pictures. They were peeling off the company logos today when I checked on it. Hopefully they will get the fw hitch out soon!

+1 for the 6.0... I wouldn't want it for 5K though if it's not 4x4..

I would not have a problem with it at that price.
