Is My Thinking Correct?

In a couple of months my wife and I will be getting a new truck. We do a lot of camping and we currently tow a popup. Because of the popup we load the bed down with bikes, firewood, grills, etc. Now in a couple of years we are gonna upgrade to travel trailer. Because of this I wanna get a 6.0 so we dont have to upgrade the truck also. Does this make sense or am I stupid for wanting a 6.0 when I only currently tow a popup?

The "right" way to do it is to get the camper then choose the tow vehicle BUT that's not always the practical way. Depending on how large your RV tastes will end up, getting a suitable Superduty upfront isn't a bad choice just pick the truck with your future needs in mind.

if it was me i would get a 6.7 to tow it, if you want a used 6.0 you need to make sure the maintenance was kept up or else you might be looking at problems. these trucks will handle alot and i mean alot but when not properly taken care of they can get expensive to repair!

1st. any 1/2 ton pickup truck on the market is more then adequate for what you presently haul. If you still think you need a Super Duty with a 6.0 then I would suggest you look for one with less then 100,000 miles on it. All work that is dealer performed in the period of 0-100,000 miles is documented on what is called a OASIS. This can be viewed by getting a copy at a Ford dealer for that vin.# Take your time on finding what your looking for, and many of these trucks will come with a free carfax report which is also helpful. And finally don't overlook the option of one with a 5.4 gas engine.

My 2000 f150 with the 5.4 pulled our 23fter fine.then we upgraded to a 36fter.it wouldn't quite pull that comfortably.with the new gas engines the hp and torque numbers are really impressive.shop long and hard before you make the decision.

I'm in the same boat. Don't need it yet but I will in the future. I had an f-250 with the 5.4 and I LOVED IT! Should have never gotten rid of it. I have always wanted a diesel. Love the sound, the smell, everything about them.

Same here. Unfortunately for us all of those things have been taken away with the new trucks.

To the OP, get whatever will make you happy. You probably don't NEED the diesel, but you only live once.
