fueling problems

Hi all,
I just bought a 1995 Ford F-250 Powerstroke, and it is having a fueling problem where it will suck the filter bowl dry sometimes. If I switch tanks or fiddle with the selector switch the light will go off and it will drive fine for a while. Someone mentioned to me that there might be a problem with the screen/filter assy in the tank but does it make sense for both tanks to be having this problem? My thoughts were maybe the selector valve getting stuck in between modes or maybe some clogging going on in there. Any similar problems or known problems that would cause this
Thanks in advance

That sounds like an issue with either the selector valve or the switch itself.
