Ok everyone, here is the deal. I bought a remote start to put on my '96 7.3 and I have been searching the forum and the web for a wiring diagram for this truck so I can wire it in the right way so I have a delay before it cranks. The only ones I seem to find look like for gasser only or '99 on up.

Can anyone point me in the right direction so I can get this done before it is too cold out to do this

 

We need some more details on what you bought. For instance the Viper alarm/remote start I use can have a delay set by seconds or monitor the WTS light. Some remote start units may not support a diesel and if your someplace that doesnt' get cold you may not even need to set a delay.

 

It was an off brand I got on ebay, CARVOX. Installed one on my Mitsu Eclipse. And I kinda need the WTS, living in Wisconsin can get a little cold lol

So does anybody have a wiring diagram for this truck at?

 

i know my buddy who does remote starts just wires right to the WTS light usually and uses that for timing since it can vary.

 

That is what I was thinking, but I am coming up empty to finding a good diagram. The only one for a diesel I have found has been for the '98 and up. Did find one for '95 f-seris gasser though

Can't you just program the remote for a fixed wait time, say, 20 seconds? Ideal thing would be a manual control from the remote fob. One button that would be the equivalent of turning the key to RUN, and a separate button (or a sequence) that would be the equivalent of turning the key to START. Then you can decide the wait time yourself every time you start the truck.

The WTS light is GROUND-switched by the PCM. The power to it is always hot in RUN. You'll have a hard time timing the remote wait time from that.

 

I do believe mine can be programmed to do that. Haven't got into it to much yet.
