Code Alarm is good, compustar is great, an in my opinion the Viper 791xv is the way to go. I had one installed on my truck for $500 even and it is been remarkable. It has remote start, 2-way paging (alerts you when your alarm has been tripped or any of the sensors set off), ignition protection, automatic starter kill, a cool LCD remote, and it comes with an icy cold Bud Light while you wait for them to put it on. Just kiddin... I know this isn't exactly just a remote start, but it's good protection for your SD as well!!
The expensive code alarm here..Very happy with it. I'll add, having it installed at a reputable shop has given me excellent service that more then payed for the istall cost.
I had a high end Viper in my '99 E350. It was awesome! Range was really really good. For my F250 I went with a cheaper Viper unit and it works just fine, but the range is not nearly as good. I'll go with the top end unit for my next truck.
I have one of the higher end Code Alarm on mine, it was pretty easy to install, I had a wiring diagram for the truck to look at. It is also expandable to add more sensors, and other features, also has 2-way remote that tells you when the truck is on and when the alarm is going off.
I just got the same one SGLYNX1 has installed yesterday and the remote start works great. Still figuring out the rest of it, but that remote start works perfectly.
Be prepared if you carry the LCD remote on your key chain to be asked by many befuddled people if it's your cell phone. I can't count how many people have asked where they could get a phone like mine...
