1978 F250 with 1973 Highboy leafsprings and rear block
Hello, This is my first post and I know Highboy leafsprings on lowboys has been talked about before but I have never heard any one use the rear blocks from a highboy. Just my experience to help out those considering doing it
I purchased a set of front leafs and rear blocks out of a 73 Highboy. The fronts bolt right in with the exception that you will need the same size bolt as the rear brackets. The Larger one taken out will not fit all. I undid the shock bolt and made it way easier to just sllide the leafs into place. It gave me almost 3.5 inches of lift from what I had. This will probably vary from the condition of ear leaf spring pack.
Now for the rears I learned that the rear blocks are only 1 inch taller than what I had. But hey every inch counts. They rears take a little modifying since the hole on the spring is smaller than the nub on the block. Also I would recommend lifting the rear tires together instead of one at a time. makes for everything realigning alot easier at reassembly.
Over all very pleased considering I only spent 110 bucks off Craigslist for everything.

Perfect! thats good news that it worked perfectly.........Sometimes when the leaf springs are worn out, you bottom out on the bumpstops after hitting some sort of bump or irregularity. in that case, stiffer springs will ride better since you dont hit the stops.....I cant remember if the Lowboys used the negative arch front leaves like the 80"s TTB F250's did, but the negative arch springs typically had less travel than the positive arch springs.

Stock highboy rear springs are pretty much garbage. They are short, narrow and overly stiff front a huge arch. They are 2.25" wide where as your springs are 3" wide. There are also quite a bit shorter. Also the bracket are narrower so if you did use them youd have to move the spring perches on the axle and use a narrower perch. If youre dead set on a spring swap either buy new springs or go with a set of 63" long springs off the rear of a newer chevy 2500/3500. Youd still need different hangers and move the spring perches but it would be worth it this way.
