RCD TRIPLE DISC BILLET TORQUE CONVERTER
So my torque converter was starting to slip a little more when locked then I like to see towing so decided to change it. It started around 30-60 and gradually went to 80-150 torque converter slip when locked as read on the Dash Daq while towing heavy over 3/4 throttle. I went with the 1600 RPM stall triple disc converter RCD (RIVER CITY DIESEL) offers, which is about 300 rpm stall or so lower then stock. The converters side by side like they are similar but when you go to pick them up the RCD converter seems almost twice the weight of the stock converter.
Now performance,
The converter is awesome. Basic engagement is much stronger at idle. I used to have to throttle the truck a little to get into my step driveway now the truck just idles up the driveway. The overall shift points seem to have changed as well. The RPM's on shifts are much lower on normal driving which has lead to an increase in fuel mileage. Looks like about .9 to 1.3 with an average of 1 mpg increase in mileage but that’s based on 3 fill ups by hand. Towing in stop and go traffic the trans temps seem to have dropped about 12 degrees. When the converter locks it is instant almost scary but definitely predictable where the stock seem to vary a little. Towing 24,000 LBS the total torque converter slip is 0-5 locked, which is zero, based on what Mark has said in the past. 0-10 is a calibration variance on the sensor anything 10 or higher would be considered actual converter slip.
Warranty from the people at RCD
(These torque converters carry a 60 month (5 year) no b.s. warranty. Without limiting the foregoing, this warranty shall be null and void if repair or replacement is required because of improper installation, accident, physical or electrical stress, neglect, misuse or any other cause other than the ordinary and intended use for which the product was designed.)
The best on the market that i have seen so far!
Cost
Convert was 1200.00
Billet input shaft 225.00(only added cause the HP I am running not needed for a stock truck)
Trans shop to R&R 400.00
So 1800.00 or so but money well spent I am very pleased with the RCD triple Disc converter just wish i would have done this sooner....lol

Ok so I have had the converter for about 1600 miles and I can report a solid 1-mpg gain in my city driving, my hwy driving doesn’t yield any noticeable gains. I can only hold to the change in the stall running 3 or 400 rpm less then the stock converter.
