Hard to move Shift Lever from P

Looking for some help regarding my 2003 Ford Ranger with automatic trans. I am having trouble shifting out of park into any other gear. Shifter itself will not disengage until after numerous tries. Then the next day it shifts perfectly. Never a problem shifting from D to R or vice versa, but problem seems to be getting more and more frequent taking vehicle out of P. Thanks.

Your owner's manual should have the shift interlock bypass procedure.

Usually, your issue is an intermittent brake pedal position switch.

Theres probably a separate fuse for the shift lock actuator. Make sure it's solid in it's mount and not blown.

CJB fuse F9 (7.5A) is switched through the BPP to release the interlock. It's certainly worth checking since there's nothing else on that fuse.
