I was wondering wich manual tranny would be best to use with a 557 stroker, I'm planning on having lots of power and torque so I need a strong tranny.

 

I think the only trans I would put behind an engine over 400 hp would be a C6.

 

I would have to agree with Ponyracer and say C6, not stock though you'll have to get it built to handle the power.

 

Thats what I thought everyone would say, there isn't any manual tranny that would work?, different make maybe?

 

Maybe a T18 or T19 or NP 435. All made by ford they are all 4 speeds.

 

you're probably outside of the torque limit of any production tranny. Maybe one of the Richmond boxes would be strong enough. Is this going to be street driven or race-only? If it's race-only you might want to look at a Jericho or even a Lenco.

 

I'm planning on building it mostly for street maybe some racing once in a while but not like everyday.

 

You would probably be better off going with an after market tranny built and designed for the kind of power you are making.

 

Hey guys I found they make an adapter to make the NV 4500 trans to bolt up, and stock it handles 450 ft.lbs stock, so I'm thinking thats the way to go.

 

If you want performance, you may be disappointed. The ratios are very wide and the shifter is "somewhat imprecise." It's a GREAT hauling, towing and general work tranny. It's not a performance box.

 

I'm not looking for a racing truck, just a truck with lots of power for fun, maybe light offroading once in a while, would it be good for that?
